Lookman battles Salah, Mane for African Golden Awards

Super Eagles and Atalanta striker, Ademola Lookman has been nominated for the 2025 African Golden Awards in the Best Footballer of the Year category.

Lookman, the reigning CAF African Player of the Year, will compete against Egyptian and Liverpool star, Mohamed Salah, Senegal’s Sadio Mane and Ghanaian and West Ham United player, Mohammed Kudus for the award.

Other nominees include Percy Tau from South Africa, Algeria’s Riyad Mahrez, Senegal’s Kalidou Koulibaly, Ivory Coast’s Eric Bailly, Morocco’s Achraf Hakimi, Arsenal’s Thomas Partey, and Manchester United goalkeeper, Andre Onana.

Additional nominees are Ivory Coast’s Franck Kessié, Young Africans (Yanga SC) star, Stephane Aziz, Mamelodi Sundowns and Bafana Bafana goalkeeper, Ronwen Williams and Kenya national team striker, Michael Olunga.

According to a statement, the voting process began on Sunday, March 9, and will continue until Monday, April 21.
