On Saturday, October 4, 2025, Maureen Charming-Layokun, Publisher of Charming Magazine, hosted the 4th annual AFROEUROPA Gala Awards Night at the Oasis Banqueting Suites in London.
The event, themed ‘‘Social Cohesion: Improving Connectedness and Solidarity’, celebrated diversity and unity by bringing together a diverse audience of leaders, entrepreneurs, and community members. Hosted by Lady Doyin Ola and Emeka Smith, the evening began with a glamorous red carpet and a cocktail networking session designed to foster relationships among people from various ethnic backgrounds.
Key moments included insightful speeches by His Worshipful Councillor Sunny Lambe on social cohesion and Councillor Hillaria Asumu on the importance of organ donation. The night featured a vibrant blend of cultural entertainment, including performances by the Oduduwa Talking Drummers, belly dancer Katie, and the Warmis Ecuador Troupe, alongside a captivating Hat Display by PEACEFM Creative Hair Show.
Guests indulged in a buffet-style dinner that fused African and European flavours. The highlight of the night was the Awards presentation, honouring outstanding individuals for their positive community impact. The evening concluded with music from DJ Omo Whyte, ensuring a memorable night of cross-cultural celebration and solidarity.
