A 29-year-old man, Victor Kalu, has been handed over to the police in Ogun State after a foiled suicide attempt inside a church.

Daily Sun gathered that Kalu attempted to hang himself on an electric pole inside the premises of a popular church in Ibafo area of the state around 10:45 pm on Friday.

It was learnt that watchful security personnel at the church spotted him and prevented the act before the Chief Security Officer handed him over to the police on Saturday morning.

A police source disclosed that Kalu, a resident of Plot 7, Oluwa Sesan Street, Ejigbo Road, Ikotun, Lagos, confessed to being pushed into the act after being unable to repay a loan he had obtained from an online lender, which had been threatening him for defaulting.

Detectives from the Ibafo Division have launched an investigation into the incident, and the suspect has been detained to help with the investigation.
