Former Senate President Bukola Saraki has stated that President Bola Tinubu had no hand in his prosecution under the late Muhammadu Buhari administration.
Saraki, while appearing on Channels TV’s ‘Politics Today’ on Friday, dismissed claims that Tinubu had a level of influence during Buhari’s time as president.
His words are in reference to the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) filing charges of false asset declaration against Saraki at the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) in September 2025.
According to Saraki, it would be unfair to point an accusing finger at Tinubu as being part of his ordeal at the time when he was being prosecuted for taking actions that were in the “best interest of Nigeria”.

“That is also not fair on President Ahmed Bola Tinubu because you and I know that in those days of the former President Muhammadu Buhari administration, he did not have that say that they claimed he had.
“My own concern is that I was doing what I feel is in the interest of the country as the president of the senate, and for doing those things, I was now prosecuted.
“Bola Tinubu was not part of the people who took the decision and implemented going to the code of conduct, or the Offa robbery or the forgery of the national assembly. That was the executive part of government,” Saraki said.
