A pro-President Bola Ahmed Tinubu support group, LikeMinds Volunteers for Tinubu, has reaffirmed its commitment to the President’s re-election in the 2027 general elections, declaring that its nationwide mobilisation campaign will proceed regardless of the outcome of its proposed collaboration with the CityBoy Movement.
The group, also known as CityBoy LikeMinds Volunteers, said it remains open to working with all genuine support groups, political organisations and grassroots structures across the country whose objective is to secure the electoral victory of President Tinubu and candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a statement issued by its Director-General, Temidayo Babalola, the organisation said it has established strategic structures in 35 states and, according to its internal mobilisation figures, commands a network of more than one million direct and indirect volunteers and officers.
Babalola explained that the group’s engagement with the CityBoy Movement was initiated in good faith and through official channels to explore areas of collaboration in support of President Tinubu’s re-election.
According to him, a delegation led by the National Coordinator of LikeMinds Volunteers, Hon. Adekunle Abdulkabir Akinlade, met with the Director-General of the CityBoy Movement National Headquarters, Hon. Francis Tosin Shoga, the Deputy Director-General Coordinator, Hon. Favour Abayomi, the Director of Media and other members of the management team to discuss possible collaboration.
He disclosed that the group subsequently submitted a formal letter proposing the partnership, which was acknowledged by the CityBoy Movement’s national leadership. During the discussions, he said, it was proposed that the CityBoy Movement headquarters host the official unveiling of the CityBoy LikeMinds Volunteers App, while further engagements included assurances that mobilisation data from across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory would be shared to strengthen grassroots coordination.
The organisation, however, expressed surprise that despite receiving no official response from the national leadership, the Ogun State chapter of the CityBoy Movement later issued a disclaimer distancing itself from the proposed collaboration.
Babalola further stated that LikeMinds Volunteers had complied with the recognised registration process for support groups in Ogun State through the designated registration portal before approaching the national headquarters to formalise the collaboration.
He described the subsequent disclaimer by the Ogun State chapter as unfortunate, stressing that every step taken by the organisation was done in good faith and in accordance with established procedures.
The group also clarified that its adoption of the term “CityBoy” in its name was not intended to misrepresent or undermine any organisation, but rather reflected the phrase’s widespread recognition as a political identity associated with President Tinubu.
Babalola further observed that Seyi Tinubu, whom he described as a prominent symbol of the CityBoy Movement, has consistently encouraged initiatives that genuinely promote the President’s re-election, saying such inclusiveness is essential for strengthening grassroots mobilisation.
The organisation said its core mobilisation strategy is anchored on the ONE-OF-TEN Initiative, which targets the delivery of 2.5 million votes for President Tinubu by encouraging each volunteer to mobilise at least 10 eligible voters within their communities and polling units.
According to the statement, the initiative is designed to translate volunteer participation into measurable electoral support through a structured, technology-driven grassroots campaign.
The group added that its leadership comprises experienced political stakeholders, including former members of the National Assembly and grassroots leaders with structures spanning Nigeria’s 774 local government areas.
While reiterating its readiness to collaborate with the CityBoy Movement and other genuine support groups, the organisation maintained that its commitment to President Tinubu’s re-election is not dependent on any single platform.
It stressed that its mobilisation programme would continue through its existing nationwide structures, volunteers and digital strategy, irrespective of the Ogun State chapter’s disclaimer.
“The disclaimer by the Ogun State Chapter of the CityBoy Movement will not distract us from our mission. Where collaboration is possible, we will embrace it; where it is not, we will continue with our structures and mandate. Our overriding interest is the success of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the APC in the 2027 elections,” the statement said.
The group also called on all pro-Tinubu support organisations and grassroots mobilisation platforms to remain focused on what it described as the larger objective of securing victory for the President and the APC in the 2027 general elections.
