Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has said President Bola Tinubu’s lifting of the six-month suspension of Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara is nothing to cheer about.
Tinubu had controversially declared a state of emergency in Rivers in March, suspending Governor Fubara, Deputy Governor Ngozi Odu and the State House of Assembly for six months.
The president said the declaration was to prevent a further breakdown of law and order in the oil-rich state.
The president also appointed a former Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas as Sole Administrator.
Tinubu announced an end to emergency rule in the state on Wednesday, restoring the democratically-elected executive and legislature.
