Residents of Ureje in Ado-Ekiti, capital of Ekiti State, were on Saturday morning enveloped in shock after they woke up to see a lifeless body of a human being inside Ureje River, after it rained cats and dogs in the metropolis Friday evening.

Ureje is a community located along Federal Polytechnic and Afe Babalola University Ado-Ekiti(ABUAD) area of the capital city and where the Ureje River has its bridge and main valley.

A witness, who has his company around the area, said the Friday evening’s torrential downpour that raised Ureje River’s water level washed the corpse down to the area.

He noted that they have reported the incident at the Police Station at Odo Ado Area while efforts were being intensified to contact the state government on the matter

As at the time of filing this report, the unidentified dead body was still inside the river.
