Leeds United are hoping to seal an “easy” deal to sign Super Eagles left-back Zaidu Sanusi in January from FC Porto, sources have told Football Insider.
The 29-year-old is a long-term target for the Whites, who have contemplated a move for him in each of the last two transfer windows.
Sanusi’s future at Porto is now hugely uncertain, with his contract due to expire at the end of the current campaign.
Sources say that has alerted Leeds to the possibility of a “cut-price” deal to sign the defender this winter, rather than them having to wait until the summer.
The West Yorkshire outfit believes that a straightforward deal is likely to be on the cards, provided that Porto don’t hand a new contract to Sanusi in the coming months.

The Nigeria international only started 11 league games for the Portuguese giants last term, but already has five starts under his belt in 2026-27.
Sanusi is a player they have been tracking continually in recent years, and they are now slowly seeing the door open for them to make a move.
The veteran is now into his seventh season with Porto, but it appears increasingly likely to be his last unless their stance on his future changes.
Sanusi’s top-level experience serves as a major tick against his name for Leeds, as he already has 29 Champions League appearances under his belt, and is featuring in the competition again this season.
Leeds have been prudent with their spending since returning to the Premier League last season, and Sanusi would be a cost-effective option for them this winter.
