Women from Ndinwuba family in Amuzam, Obeagu community, Enugu South Local Government Area of Enugu State, have protested against incessant arrest of their sons and husbands by the Anti-Cult unit of the Enugu State Police Command.
The protesters who stormed the headquarters of the police unit on Friday were seen chanting sorrowful songs while displaying placards with various inscriptions.
Some of the placards read: “Anti-Cult: Enugu should stop arresting our sons and husbands”, “Anti-Cult: Enugu should allow us to sleep”, “Ikechukwu Udengene, the investor should leave our land alone”, “The Commissioner of Police, Enugu State, should come to our aid”, “Ekegbo and his gang should stop terrorising us”, “Timothy Ogbodo and his wife should leave Ndinwuba alone,” among others.
In an interview after registering their anger to the police, the leader of the women, Sharon Arum, said that women in the community no longer slept with their two eyes closed due to constant arrests by the police.
