In an effort to alleviate the burden of rising food prices, the Inspire Lagos Food Market has partnered with the Chairman of the Ojodu Local Council Development Area (LCDA), David Odumbakun, to offer substantial relief to over 2,000 residents of the Ojodu co1mmunity. The initiative, which features a 50 per cent reduction in food prices, aims to provide essential assistance to families navigating the challenges posed by inflation and increased living costs.
Convener of the Inspire Lagos Food Market initiative, Abiola Adebajo, said ongoing economic pressures have left many residents struggling to afford basic necessities, prompting the collaboration between Inspire Lagos and the Ojodu LCDA. By leveraging local resources and engaging with food suppliers, the initiative ensures that residents can access fresh produce and other staple foods at significantly 50 per cent reduced prices.
He has successfully provided relief to over 2,000 residents in the Ojodu area, offering essential food staples at a 50 per cent discount. The initiative, spearheaded by Founder Abiola Adebajo, aims to alleviate food insecurity and support families struggling in the wake of rising living costs.
Adebajo expressed her enthusiasm for the programme, during a visit to the community, where smiling faces and filled shopping bags were in abundance. “We are thrilled to have been able to bring this relief to the people of Ojodu, allowing them to purchase 15 staple food items at such a reduced price. “It’s heartwarming to see the joy and gratitude on their faces”, he said. The success of the initiative in Ojodu has been a part of a mission to reach various local governments across Lagos State. Adebajo ssid, “we have already visited other local governments and our goal is to extend this initiative throughout Lagos State to make food more accessible to those in need.”
A key partner in this initiative has been the Ojodu Local Government Chairman, David Odumbakun, who provided support and facilitated the event on short notice. “We are grateful for his quick response and unwavering support. His commitment to the community’s welfare has been instrumental in our ability to execute this programme,” Adebajo remarked.
Adebajo acknowledged the contributions of other supporters and volunteers who have worked tirelessly to make the food market successful, saying, “we thank a few other individuals and organisations who have been by our side throughout this journey. Together, we are making a tangible difference in the lives of many.”
