The Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) has called on government to support women entrepreneurs at this crucial time with

concessionary fiscal stimulus like lower-interest loans, grants and business support services.

President of the chamber, Gabriel Idahosa made the plea during the 2024

annual symposium, organized by the  LCCI Women Group  themed “Fostering Collaboration, Winning as Women,” where he noted that with the CBN interest rate at 27.25%, the petrol pump prices jerked up to N998 per liter; definitely  businesses are suffering more from the high cost of credit and energy.

Idahosa noted that the theme provides an opportunity to unleash the power of collaboration and teamwork among women to achieve greater empowerment emphasizing that fostering collaboration among women has been a key factor in advancing social, economic and personal progress.

“These unique relationships foster support, understanding, and resilience, empowering women to achieve remarkable feats and bring about long-lasting change.”

Pointing out the vital role women play in making societies better, Idahosa said  that  it was important to note that, collaboration among women is not just about addressing gender disparities; it’s also about unlocking creativity and driving innovation.

“When women collaborate, they bring a diverse range of perspectives, experiences, and insights to the table, sparking creativity and driving solutions that resonate with a broader audience.”

He gave reasons why women collaborating to include

Amplified Voices: When women join forces, their collective voices become stronger. Collaborative efforts enable them to advocate for gender equality, social justice, and equal opportunities with greater impact.

Diverse Perspectives: Collaboration brings together individuals from diverse backgrounds, experiences, and skill sets. Women collaborating often lead to richer, more well-rounded solutions to complex problems.

Mentorship and Support: Women collaborating can provide mentorship and support to each other. This support system is crucial for personal and professional growth, especially in fields where women are underrepresented.

He said by collaborating, women can leverage each other’s strengths, share knowledge, and offer valuable support. In a world where gender disparities still exist, women can lift each other up, champion one another’s achievements, and collectively break through glass ceilings.
