Nigeria’s foremost league awards panel, the League Bloggers Awards, has released nominations for its first Coach and Player of the month awards.
The LBA, managed by MatchRoom Sports & Media Limited, has been recognizing and celebrating top performers in the League since 2009.
With only two match days in August, the LBA combined August and September for its first monthly awards in the 2025/26 Nigeria Premier Football League season.
Rivers United’s Finidi George, Enyimba’s Stanley Eguma, Nasarawa United’s Mbwas Mangut and Niger Tornadoes’ Majin Mohammed were listed for recognition.
George and Eguma finished the period under review unbeaten, while Mangut was on top of the log after finishing the most wins. Mohammed equally guided his side to fourth position.
It was a period in which three goalkeepers earned nominations for the prestigious awards. They are: Osagie Onisodumeya (Rivers United), Kelvin Ogunga (Enyimba) and Godwin Ameh (Nasarawa United).
Barau’s Yahaya Ibrahim is the only outfield player who made the list.
The presence of Onisodumeya, Ogunga and Ameh underscored their impact for their teams in goal and a huge boost for goalkeepers.
Onisodumeya conceded once in four matches as his team was busy in the continent. He had clean sheets against Kwara United, Shooting Stars and El-Kanemi Warriors.
Ogunga’s four consecutive clean sheets; two on the road at Barau and Bayelsa as well as two at home against Niger Tornadoes and Nasarawa United were key indices for his selection.
Nasarawa United fans will be excited with Ameh for his heroics in goal with four clean sheets against Abia Warriors, Enyimba, Wikki Tourists and Katsina United.
Ibrahim’s brace in the 3-1 road trip win at Kun Khalifa and a goal at home against Bendel Insurance boosted his nomination.
Winners of the awards will be announced this week.
