Members of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University (NAU) Law Class of 2011 have expressed outrage and sorrow following the brutal killing of their classmate and legal practitioner, Ifeanyi Rolex Iloakasia.

The group called for swift and uncompromising justice.

Iloakasia, a respected lawyer and community leader, was reportedly assassinated shortly after concluding a court session at the High Court of Anambra State, sitting in Ekwulobia, Aguata Local Government Area.

According to the Anambra State Police Command, he was ambushed and fatally shot alongside his client in Egbebelu village, Nanka, in Orumba North LGA.

In a strongly worded statement signed by Dr. Chinedu Orji Obasi, Chairman of the NAU Law Class of 2011, the group condemned the killing as “unacceptable, disgraceful, and barbaric,” calling it a direct attack on the legal profession and the Nigerian justice system.

“This horrific murder is not only a personal loss but a blatant assault on the legal profession and the very foundation of justice in Nigeria.

“That a lawyer can be assassinated in such a premeditated fashion shortly after discharging his professional duties demands an immediate and unrelenting national response,”the statement read.

While the motive behind the killing remains unclear, the NAU Law alumni emphasized the importance of justice, not just for Iloakasia’s family and colleagues, but to preserve public confidence in the legal system.

The statement concluded with heartfelt condolences to Iloakasia’s wife, children, and extended family, with the group pledging to stand united in grief and in their call for justice.
