Governor Dauda Lawal has signed into law the bill establishing the Zamfara Institute of Information Technology, Gusau (ZIIT).
The governor signed the bill on Thursday in Gusau, the state capital.
This was revealed in a statement by the Executive Secretary of the Zamfara Information Technology Development Agency (ZITDA), Habib Gajam, recently.
The statement said: “Today marks a truly significant moment for the future of technology and innovation in Zamfara State.
“This visionary institution is set to become the cornerstone of technological advancement in Northern Nigeria, equipping the next generation with cutting-edge skills in software development, cybersecurity, AI and data science.”

He said the institute will transcend the creation of a mere academic facility, but will embody the state government’s bold commitment to a knowledge-driven economy and position the state as a regional hub for innovation.
Gajam said the institute will foster digital excellence, empower youth, attract investment and catalyse inclusive development across the North-West.
He said the establishment of the institute also reflects the unwavering dedication of Governor Lawal’s administration and stakeholders to harnessing technology for progress.
“As Zamfara embraces the digital future, ZIIT stands as a testament to the state’s readiness to lead,” he said.
