LASU, 48 others to get broadband connectivity from communications ministry

The Lagos State University (LASU) is among 49 tertiary institutions in Nigeria that will benefit from the provision of broadband connectivity awarded by the Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy.

Other beneficiaries of the special intervention include six markets and 20 airports across the country.

 Vice chancellor of LASU, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, was in Abuja to receive the certificate of award of the intervention presented by the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Prof. Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, at the main auditorium of the Communications and Digital Economy Complex, Mbora District, Abuja.

 In her acceptance speech, the VC, Olatunji-Bello thanked the minister as well as the chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission, Prof. Adeolu Akande, for finding Lagos State University worthy of the intervention.

She added that: “The provision of broadband in our university will improve learning and research, and enhance the full digitalization of our processes. With this provision, the entire university will have full Internet connectivity.”

 The VC was accompanied to the award ceremony by the acting director, Directorate of Special Interventions, Dr. Oseni Afisi, and the administrative officer II (protocol) in the VC’s office, Miss Blessings Awaritakpor.
