The Lagos State government has been criticised for collecting ticket fares from passengers on transit from Oyingbo to Agbado and back during the just concluded Christmas and New year holidays.

They opined that the state government should through Lagos Area Metropolitan Transport Authority emulate the Federal government by introducing free train ride during yultide

Mr. Sunday Ani averred that the Lagos state government should key into people oriented programmes so as to ameliorate sufferings of people rather than base all its operations on profit making.

Mr. Augustine Ebifa however posited that Lagos state government played a complementary role by providing paid train service on Christmas and New year day when Nigerian Railway Corporation did not operate.

But a source at LAMATA who preferred anonymity said the the services of the red line was concessioned to a private organisations: First Metro Services.

He said that the state government entered into concession agreement with First Metro Services based on some terms of agreement adding that provision of free train ride was not part of the agreement.
