LASG extends traffic diversion at M/Muhammed Way

The Lagos State Government has announced the extension of the traffic diversion on Muritala Muhammed Way and Apapa Road, Oyingbo, for a duration of nine weeks, from January 27 till March 31, 2023.

This is in furtherance of the ongoing construction of the First Phase of the Lagos Rail Mass Transit, Red Line project.

 A statement by the Transportation Commissioner, Dr. Frederic Oladeinde, explained that the total lane closure would be sustained to allow the contractor complete the construction without any inhibition during the course of the construction.

 Oladeinde revealed that the previous alternative routes would be maintained as well. He stated that traffic on Muritala Muhammed Way would be diverted to Abeokuta Street to access Borno Way to Coates Street to link Murtala Mohammed Way again, adding that motorists could alternatively access their destinations from Cemetery Street.

 In the same vein, traffic on Apapa Road would be accommodated with the temporary lanes constructed before the overpass and would be channelised to two lanes on Muritala Mohammed Way.

 The Commissioner assured that the site would be cordon off for the safety of the citizenry, adding that emergency vehicles would be on ground to tow broken down vehicles along the axis. He also stated that signage’s will be placed on the access roads with the state’s traffic management authority to manage traffic flow and minimize inconveniences
