On November 18, 2024, Dr Lanre Oyegbola-Sodipo was officially sworn in as the new Executive Chairman of Abeokuta North Local Government. During his inauguration, Oyegbola-Sodipo, fondly called LOS, solemnly promised to deliver effective governance and improve the welfare of his people. And barely weeks into his tenure, LOS has quickly won admiration through decisive actions that resonate deeply with the people. He rolled out impactful programmes, earning accolades and leaving even sceptics wondering how he managed to achieve so much so fast.
As a serial philanthropist and ardent volunteer, LOS has demonstrated and prepared for what the future holds with so many philanthropic projects in Abeokuta and other parts of Ogun State. Now, as an elected public servant, to many constituents of his boisterous council area, LOS’ gestures feels like a king’s feast after years of famine. His commitment to community development extends beyond quick wins and far beyond his immediate council area into almost the entire Egbaland.
Until he became the Executive Chairman of Abeokuta North Local Government, LOS has been a renowned marketing communications expert. He is the Managing Director of Havas Africa in Nigeria and Ghana. He holds an MSc in Marketing from the University of Liverpool, United Kingdom. He is an active member of several professional bodies, including the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON). Indeed, LOS has been leveraging his expertise and experience to further the progress and development of Egbaland.
In recognition of LOS’ exemplary service, the Alake of Ẹgbaland, Ọba Dr Adedọtun Arẹmu Gbadebọ has elected to bestow him with the prestigious title of Otun Asoludero of Egbaland. The royal installation will be held today Saturday March 21 at the Ake Palace, Abeokuta, Ogun State.
To celebrate his royal installation, debonair LOS would pull all stops tomorrow, Sunday March 22 as he hosts his friends from all walks of life at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, Abeokuta for the grand reception. The shindig that has already become top of discussion among the elite and the socialites would have Fuji Legend, King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal at the band stand.
Born into the Sodipo family in Oke Ona, Egba Abeokuta on August 26, 1975, his father was the Late Alhaji Abdul-Ganiyu Oyegbola, a top member of staff in the then Concord Press owned by the Late Chief M.K.O Abiola. Prior to today’s prestigious honour, Oba Adedapo Adewale Tejuoso, the Osile of Oke-Ona Egbaland, on May 2024, officially conferred the chieftaincy title of ‘Asoludero of Oke-Ona Egbaland’ on LOS but the suave technocrat later attained the prestigious title of Otun Asoludero of Ẹgbaland, granted by the entire Ẹgba people and officially presented by the Alake, Ọba Adedọtun Gbadebọ.
