Olanrewaju Adams Agunloye, professionally known as Lanre, has combined professional information technology practice with postgraduate research, independent technology development and mentorship of students pursuing careers in computing.

Agunloye is a Senior Information Technology Officer at Excellence Community Education Welfare Scheme (ECEWS), where he supports the organisation’s U.S. Department of State ACE-5 Programme. His professional responsibilities have included work across Cross River, Lagos and Akwa Ibom States.

His career in information technology spans more than seven years, with experience covering Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, enterprise networking, cloud security and security operations.

His academic progression began with a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from Bayero University Kano, completed in 2017. He later pursued an MSc in Data Science at the University of East London, graduating with Distinction in 2025.

His postgraduate focus on AI-driven cybersecurity reflects the growing overlap between artificial intelligence, data science and information security. The field has become increasingly relevant as organisations adopt cloud systems and manage larger volumes of digital information.

Agunloye has complemented his academic training with professional certifications from Microsoft. His credentials include Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Azure Security Engineer Associate, Security Operations Analyst Associate and Microsoft 365 Administrator Expert. He also holds ITIL v5 and a Leadership and Team Development credential from IBMI Berlin.

His technical interests extend into independent software and security projects. Through his GitHub account, lanre-adams, he has developed projects including AegisFlow, CloudGuard, M365 Incident Monitor, AERCF and VM Security Automation.

These projects address areas including cloud governance, security monitoring, incident detection, infrastructure management, automation and explainable artificial intelligence. They provide a practical outlet for applying concepts associated with cloud computing, cybersecurity and data science.

Alongside his technical activities, Agunloye has maintained an informal mentoring relationship with the Faculty of Computer Science at the University of Uyo since March 2025. The arrangement was established in coordination with the Head of Department.

His involvement has focused on helping students gain a clearer understanding of professional opportunities in information technology. The mentoring covers areas such as career development, professional skills, software projects and practical aspects of the software development life cycle.

Approximately five students have also been recommended by Agunloye for internship opportunities within his office. The placements have provided the students with exposure to enterprise IT operations and professional technology environments.

The mentoring activities create a connection between academic learning and workplace experience. Students studying computer science often encounter technical concepts within formal coursework, while professional environments require additional exposure to project development, operational processes, collaboration and technology management.

Agunloye’s involvement with students reflects his interest in providing some of that practical context while continuing his own professional development.

His career therefore spans several interconnected areas of technology. Enterprise IT provides the foundation of his professional responsibilities, while cloud and cybersecurity certifications support his technical specialisation. His data science postgraduate education and independent projects add research and development dimensions, while his mentoring activities connect his experience with students entering the field.

The combination illustrates a career path in which formal education, professional certification, practical technology development and knowledge sharing have developed alongside one another within the broader information technology industry.
