Former Governor of Jigawa  State, Sule Lamido has urged his supporters to give the People Democratic Party (PDP) the next 10 days to resolve its internal crisis and move the party forward.

Lamido, a founding member of the party, stated this yesterday when he received a host of his supporters, which included Jigawa State PDP officials and members of the Jigawa State former PDP Local Council Forum, who paid him a solidarity visit in Kano.

Lamido, who decried the crisis in the PDP, expressed hope that dispute was not irreconcilable, while urging his aggrieved party supporters to exercise restraint for the next 10 days for the party to reconcile itself.

He also sought the nullification of the outcomes of the Ibadan PDP convention and prayed for the establishment of a caretaker committee to direct the affairs of the party before the conduct of the next party’s  elective primaries.

“I am pushing for a caretaker committee. I am asking Wike, Damagun and others to please sit down and forgive one another and support the formation of a unified caretaker committee.

He explained that part of the challenges of the party was caused by the fact that outsiders have succeeded in pushing out the original members of the party.

Lamido stressed that he went to court, not just to insist on his right to contest the leadership of the party, but to sustain the legacy of the party as a law-abiding institution.

Speaking earlier, the leader of the forum, Alhassan Babandi condemned the mistreatment of their leader, Sule Lamido by the leadership of the PDP with regard to their failure to allow him to contest for the position of the National Chairman of the party.

The group also urged Lamido to seek another viable  political platform that would enable them pursue their dreams for a greater Jigawa State and a better Nigeria.

They regretted that the PDP, as it is presently composed, was no longer a formidable political party in Nigeria, given the existence of different factions within the party and the bitter rancour that had come with it.
