Lakurawa terrorists kill three officers in Kebbi community, as police foil kidnap attempt

The suspected terrorists believed to be Lakurawa group have killed three police officers in Zogirma-Tilli, in Bunza Local Government Area of Kebbi State during a foiled kidnap attempt by the criminals.

Kebbi State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DS Nafiu Abubakar confirmed this in a statement made available to newsmen in Birnin Kebbi.

The statement read in part: “On 11th July, 2025, at about 1900 hrs, information received revealed that suspected Lakurawa bandits were sighted in the forest along Zogirma/Tilli road in Bunza LGA of Kebbi State, attempting to kidnap passengers in a commuter bus.

“On receipt of the report, the Zogirma Divisional Police Officer promptly mobilised a team of policemen and rushed to the scene with reinforcement from No 36 Police Mobile Force Squadron, Birnin Kebbi.

“Upon arrival, the combined team of policemen engaged the suspected Lakurawa bandits in a fierce gun duel. As a result, several suspected Lakurawa bandits were neutralised while others escaped to the nearby forest with fatal injuries. Regrettably, three brave police officers lost their lives during the encounter.

“The Commissioner of Police, Kebbi State Command, CP Bello M Sani, while commending the resilience, bravery and sacrifice of the fallen officers, prayed for their gentle souls to have an eternal rest.

He further reiterated the Command’s commitment towards ensuring the safety and security of the people of the State. He equally called on residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the nearest Police station for prompt response.
