The Lagos State Taskforce has intensified its crackdown on illegal commercial motorcycle operators, impounding 70 motorcycles during a fresh enforcement operation along the Mile 2–Badagry Expressway.

According to the statement issued by the agency’s Director, Public Affairs, Gbadeyan Abdulraheem, the operation carried out at the Iyana-Iba axis, followed a similar exercise conducted last weekend, underscoring the agency’s resolve to sustain pressure on violators of traffic, environmental and security regulations.

Areas covered during the raid include: Festac First Gate, Mazamaza and Iyana-Iba, all identified as hotspots for illegal okada activities.

Officials said several operators were found plying restricted routes and obstructing the free flow of traffic. Some were also allegedly involved in transporting illicit drugs and inflammable substances, including Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) to neighbouring countries.

“At the end of the exercise, 70 commercial motorcycles were impounded, while normalcy was restored across the affected areas.

“Taskforce reiterated that all confiscated motorcycles would be forfeited to the state government through the courts, in line with the Lagos State Transport Sector Reform Law of 2018.”

Chairman of the agency, CSP  Adetayo Akerele, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to sustained enforcement, warning that the crackdown would continue until full compliance is achieved.

“We will not be cowed or surrender to their illegalities,” he said.
