The Lagos State Taskforce has arrested 46 suspected criminals during a coordinated enforcement operation across several parts of the state as part of its ongoing campaign to rid Lagos of criminal elements, environmental offenders and other lawbreakers.
The operation, which began on Friday, followed an earlier enforcement exercise on Thursday and formed part of the agency’s sustained efforts to improve public safety, restore environmental sanity and enforce relevant state laws.
According to the Director of Public Affairs of the Lagos State Taskforce, Gbadeyan Abdulraheem, operatives carried out raids at Muri-Okunola Park in Victoria Island, Obalende Underbridge, Law School Junction, Maroko, Sandfill by Mobil Bus Stop and Marwa Bus Stop along the Lekki-Epe Expressway.
He said the operation targeted street urchins, miscreants, drug peddlers, illegal commercial motorcycle operators, street traders, illegal ticket touts and other criminal elements.

Abdulraheem disclosed that 46 suspects were arrested during the exercise, while operatives recovered substances suspected to be Indian hemp, Colorado and cannabis. Other items recovered included a UTC cutlass and a locally fabricated dane gun designed in the form of a pistol but reportedly incapable of firing live ammunition.
He noted that normalcy had been restored in all the affected locations following the operation.
Speaking at the agency’s headquarters, the Chairman of the Lagos State Taskforce, CSP Adetayo Akerele, reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to sustaining enforcement operations across the state.
He stressed that criminal elements would not be allowed any breathing space, adding that the Taskforce would continue to intensify raids in identified black spots to ensure the safety of residents and visitors.
Akerele also stated that all the arrested suspects would be prosecuted in accordance with the provisions of the Lagos State Environmental Management and Protection Law, 2017, and the Lagos State Transport Sector Reform Law, 2018.
