The Executive Director of the Patriotic Citizen Initiative (PCI), Osita Osemene, has lauded the Lagos State Government for its donation of foodstuffs to the PCI male shelter. In a recent press statement announcing the donation, Osemene stated that this act of charity inspires the PCI to further commit to the service of humanity.

“We never anticipated such support from the government. This is indeed proof of the Lagos State government’s commitment, under the leadership of Babajide Sanwo-Olu, to addressing the issue of migration and supporting the vulnerable in our society,” he remarked.

The donated food items include bags of rice, beans, and garri. They will be used to supplement the feeding of male vulnerable returned migrants and victims of trafficking in the shelter, given the current high cost of food items.

The PCI shelter houses over 15 male returnees and has been a home for the rehabilitation of returnees since it was established in 2010 in Ipaja, Lagos State.

Osemene further disclosed that the beneficiaries were elated and grateful for the concern shown to them. “I sincerely appreciate His Excellency for his thoughtfulness to humanity and the recognition of the work that we do. We are all inspired to continue to do more,” he said.

He urged other governors and well-to-do Nigerians to learn from Sanwo-Olu’s example and assist the less fortunate among them.
