Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has ordered the immediate reconstruction and rehabilitation of roads across the state as part of intensified efforts to tackle deteriorating infrastructure and improve mobility during the dry season.
Acting on the directive, the Lagos State Public Works Corporation (LSPWC) has stepped up inspections of ongoing projects to evaluate progress, enforce quality standards, and accelerate execution along critical corridors.
LSPWC General Manager, Tokunbo Ajanaku, led an inspection team to several roads in the Oshodi-Isolo Local Government Area, including Godwin Omonuwa Road, Taiwo Street, Salamotu Street, Peter Agah Street, and Ibeh Street, where reconstruction work is underway to boost connectivity.
He stated that the completed projects would ease traffic congestion, reduce travel times, enhance access to residential and commercial hubs, and stimulate local economic activity.
The inspection tour also covered Ogunnusi Road in Ojodu LCDA, Awolowo Way in Ikeja, Lanre Awolokun Road and Idowu Olaitan Street in Shomolu, and the Idimu-Ikotun Road in Alimosho.

He explained that while emergency repairs and routine maintenance continued during the rainy season, the arrival of favourable weather now allows for full-scale reconstruction and asphalt laying.
Night-time operations are also being deployed on key routes to minimise traffic disruptions.
Acknowledging public concerns over untreated roads, Ajanaku noted that intervention priorities are determined by the level of deterioration, traffic volume, urgency, and available resources.
He urged residents, traders, and motorists to complement government efforts by keeping drainage channels clear and preventing oil spillage on road surfaces.
