Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command working with local vigilantes have arrested two suspected armed robbers and recovered a locally-made cut-to-size Dane gun with three live cartridges during a crime prevention patrol in Odogunyan, Lagos State.
In a statement, Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer SP Abimbola Adebisi said the suspects, carrying a handbag, tried to flee on sighting the team but were quickly apprehended.
“A search of the bag led to the recovery of the firearm and ammunition. The suspects were identified as Arowolo Damilola, 32, and Adewale Adeyinka, 29. They are currently in custody assisting with investigations and will be charged to court afterwards.
“Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, commended the officers and vigilante members for their vigilance and swift action. He restated the Command’s commitment to protecting residents and warned criminals to steer clear of Lagos or face prosecution.”
