CP Jimoh, while briefing newsmen on the activities of the command in the last few months, disclosed that no fewer than 56 suspected criminals have been arrested for different crimes in the last few months .
The police boss, however ,stressed that the crime rate in the state has gone down significantly within the period under review .
The reinforcement of the security around the state may not be unconnected with the recent resurgence of kidnapping and violent attacks in some parts of the country.
According to the CP,the command also recovered 10 exotic vehicles from robbers in different parts of the state .
Jimoh told newsmen that:”The security situation in Lagos is not alarming and we are firmly on top of the situation. During the period under review, there has not been any extraordinary or significant security problems throughout the bigger city.
“This is not due to the police effort alone, it is due to the whole population and the collaboration and support of the public, individuals and other members of the public that have come to identify with the police and ensure the safety and protection of life and property throughout the state.
“ We are making significant progresses in the area of crime fighting and prevention. This with the introduction of new strategies.
“It is due to the positive results, that has led to the recovery of about 10 vehicles within the last few weeks.”
The police boss stressed that during the month under review, the command recovered 10 vehicles stolen and one motorcycle removed from park.
“Across multiple operations in November, the Command recovered six firearms, including locally made pistols, guns, a single barrel gun, multiple live cartridges, dangerous weapons such as a machete, a battle axe, and an assault dagger, as well as Nigerian military camouflage, charms, and fake currency valued at four thousand dollars.
“These achievements are a testament to our sustained November strategy aimed at dismantling criminal gangs, intercepting stolen property, removing illegal firearms from circulation, and strengthening public safety across Lagos State.
“The total number of weapons and items recovered are: one machete, one battle axe, one assault dagger, one Nigerian military camouflage, one charm, and fake 4,000 USD.
“ These items were seized during intelligence-driven operations aimed at neutralizing gangs responsible for violent crimes and coordinated attacks in different parts of Lagos State.
“The recovery of these weapons and materials significantly disrupts the capabilities of criminal groups and enhances the overall security landscape of the state.”
CP Jimoh also urges people ,who may want to come and celebrate the Yuletide period in the state not to entertain any fear .

.$6bn Mambilla power project: Ex-minister Agunloye forged contract document – Witness
From Sola Ojo, Abuja
A prosecution witness in the trial of former Minister of Power and Steel, Olu Agunloye, yesterday, November 24, 2025, told the Federal High Court in Abuja that the contract document used in awarding the $6 billion Mambilla Power Project was forged.
Agunloye is standing trial before Justice Jude Onwuegbuzie on an amended seven-count charge bordering on corruption and the fraudulent award of the multi-billion-dollar contract to Sunrise Power and Transmission Company Limited (SPTCL).
Testifying as the third prosecution witness (PW3), Umar Hussein Babangida stated during cross-examination by defence counsel, Adeola Adedipe, SAN, that the contract award letter dated May 22, 2003, was not genuine.
“I authored the investigation report tendered in court. During our inquiries, we discovered that while serving as minister, the defendant issued a contract award letter to SPTCL on May 22, 2003. That document is false,” Babangida said.
When asked whether he compared the contested document with an original version, the witness explained that the document itself though a certified true copy, contained false information.
“It was a false representation of itself. We compared the claims within it and found contradictions. I did not compare it with another document,” he added.
Babangida further told the court that records of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting of May 21, 2003, showed that 40 ministers, including Agunloye, were in attendance.
He said he also interviewed the then Attorney-General of the Federation, Chief Kanu Agabi, SAN, and former President Olusegun Obasanjo as part of the investigation.
However, he confirmed that no written record of these interviews existed because they were conducted orally.
He noted that former President Obasanjo later wrote a formal letter to the current Attorney-General and Minister of Justice on the matter.
Responding to another question, the witness said he did not interview the then Vice-President, Atiku Abubakar.
“I was not at the (FEC) meeting of 21st May, 2003 but we obtained the report via a formal request.
“Apart from the defendant, 39 other ministers were present at that meeting and I did not interview His Excellency Atiku Abubakar, the then Vice-President,” he said
Justice Onwuegbuzie adjourned the case to December 1, 2025, for continuation of the cross-examination of PW3.
