The founder of Farm 2 Fill, Oluwaseun Evelyn, who emerged winner in the maiden edition of the Most Beautiful Farmer Lagos 2025 Competition, went home with a brand new truck valued at N15 million.
The initiative, which held recently in Lagos, is a partnership between the Lagos State Ministry of Agriculture and Food Systems, and Farm Junction Foundation is aimed at celebrating outstanding women in agriculture.
According to the organisers, it is a platform designed to recognise, empower and showcase women transforming Nigeria’s agricultural landscape.
While Oluwaseun was crowned the Most Beautiful Farmer, the Chief Executive Officer of Green Republic Farms, Baliqees Salaudeen-Ibrahim, and the founder of Arso Farms, Oluwaseun Obadan, emerged the the and second runners-up respectively.
Salaudeen-Ibrahim and Obadan, the first and second prize winners, got N2 million and N1 million cash prizes respectively. The remaining nine finalists also received consolation prizes of N250,000 each.
While speaking at the grand finale of the competition the Lagos State Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Systems, Abisola Olusanya, described the initiative as a creative platform to highlight the beauty, potential and profitability of agriculture.
She noted that the competition, though titled Most Beautiful Farmer, goes beyond appearances to celebrate enterprising women who are making meaningful impact in food production, processing and marketing. “This is about showcasing women in agriculture doing great things and encouraging a new mindset among youths. When you hear their stories —how they’ve built million-dollar businesses and overcome challenges— it tells you there’s real opportunity in agriculture,” Olusanya said.
She added that the state government remains committed to supporting farmers across value chains through targeted interventions, including subsidised inputs and logistics support.
“Earlier in the year, we subsidised feed for poultry and fish farmers and distributed fertilisers to horticultural producers. Our next round of support will also be tailored to specific value chains based on feedback from farmers,” she said.
Olusanya commended the organisers — Demiller Group and the Farm Junction Foundation — for partnering with the state government to drive youth and women inclusion in agriculture, while suggesting that future editions of the competition include male participants as “Most Handsome Farmers” to further encourage diversity in agribusiness.
The Coordinator of the Most Beautiful Farmer (MBF) Lagos project, Michael Madogwe, in his welcome address, said the initiative was conceived to empower and spotlight women who are leading change in the food system.
“The Most Beautiful Farmer Lagos is not just a competition; it is a platform for empowerment, recognition and transformation. These 12 finalists were selected from over 300 applicants across Lagos. Through a three-day bootcamp in Badagry, they were trained in modern farming, marketing and brand positioning to prepare them for the future of agriculture.”
Madogwe applauded the Lagos State Ministry of Agriculture and Demiller Industries for their partnership and consistent support in promoting women-led agribusiness initiatives.
Dumebi Oluwole, Director of Special Project, in her keynote address, emphasised that empowering women entrepreneurs is critical to achieving a sustainable and inclusive agricultural future.
“This is not just about launching a foundation — it’s about igniting a movement where women play a central role in transforming agriculture. Through the Most Beautiful Farmer project, we are proving that farming can be modern, innovative and profitable,” she said.
Oluwole explained that the Foundation’s goal is to educate women on sustainable practices, promote innovation in agribusiness and inspire more young Nigerians to see farming as a viable and rewarding career.
“Beauty in agriculture is not about looks — it’s about excellence, tenacity and the courage to break barriers,” she added.
