The Agege Youth Vanguard (AYV), a coalition of youth groups, has endorsed Abdulganiyu Vinod Obasa, son of Lagos State House of Assembly Speaker Mudashiru Obasa, for the chairmanship of Agege Local Government in the upcoming July 12 election.

The group cited Obasa’s youth engagement, leadership potential, and commitment to grassroots development as reasons for their support.

AYV members expressed confidence in Obasa’s ability to drive positive change and build on the council’s developmental progress. At a press conference on Thursday, AYV leaders stressed the need for youth participation in governance, viewing Obasa’s candidacy as a chance for progressive leadership in Agege.

AYV coordinator Ismaeel Garba dismissed concerns about Obasa’s familial ties, stating, “The fact that Abdulganiyu Vinod Obasa’s father is the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly must not deny Agege of its best bet to reach a new height. To us in Agege Youth Vanguard, the journey to the promised land starts with ensuring that the council does not fall into the wrong hands as regards the next Chairman and seven councillors who will manage the affairs of millions of residents and business operators that make up our community. We on our part did a thorough background check on aspirants both for chairmanship and councillorship in all the wards based on information available to us; and arrived at the following decisions: that the best man for the council’s Chairmanship job is Abdulganiyu Vinod Obasa.”
