An Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday ordered that a 45- year-old labourer, Chigozie Akwudiba, be remanded in a Nigerian Correctional Service prison in Kirikiri, pending legal advice over the alleged defilement of his neighbour’s daughter.

Chief Magistrate P.E. Nwaka, who refused to take the plea of Akwudiba, ordered the police to return the case file to the Lagos State Directorate of Public Prosecutions for legal advice and adjourned the matter until December 2.

Meanwhile, the police charged Akwudiba, who resides at No. 26, Ariori Street, Mafoluku, Oshodi, Lagos, with defilement which the prosecutor, Inspector Christopher John, told the court the accused committed on October 16 at the defendant’s resident.

The offence, he said, contravenes the provisions of Sections 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 (amended ).
