The new Onilakowe of Lakowe, Ibeju Lekki Local Government, Lagos State, Oba Hakeem Olusegun Ojomu, has vowed to bring all sons and daughters of the town together for peace and progress. He said: “Repositioning Lakowe for greater height is priority during my reign.”
The monarch spoke after he was installed and presented with the staff of office by the governor, represented by Special Adviser on Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Bolaji Roberts. He urged government to help the town with good roads, upgrade its health centre to a general hospital. He also sought the upgrading of the town school to a model school. He promised to make land available for the project and other projects that would affect the people positively.
He said: “I assure my people that there will be an un-precedented progress during my reign. They should let us join hands and work together. We will also work with government.
“We have been on this for a while, but God has brought us to this stage. My people, my siblings and the sons and daughters of Lakowe, I am indeed grateful to you all.”
Roberts responded: “Let me seize this moment to rejoice with the sons and the daughters of this kingdoms and Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Area on this auspicious occasion, which has been necessitated by the need to have exemplary traditional leadership in their domains.
“I would like to congratulate all the royal fathers who by the will of the almighty are ascending the thrones of their forefathers. On behalf of Governor Sanwo-Olu, government and the good people of Lagos State, I heartily congratulate the new monarch on your ascension to this sacred and revered throne.”
