Lagos govt arrests birthday celebrant, event planner, 3 others for obstructing traffic

The Lagos State Government has arrested a birthday celebrant, Olubunmi Ogundare, and four others for blocking a road in the highbrow Ikoyi area of the state during a birthday celebration.

Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab disclosed this in a Monday statement.

According to the statement, others arrested alongside the celebrant are Omolara Ajetumobi (event planner), Ayodele Busuyi (musician), Adedayo Owoeye (sound engineer) and Akinola Akinkunmi (vendor).

The commissioner said the suspects were arrested on Saturday, October 19 for obstructing traffic and creating an environmental nuisance.

“The suspects were arrested for blocking Raymond Njoku Road in Southwest, Ikoyi during a birthday celebration.

“They will be tried in court in accordance with the laws of the State.

“The Lagos State Government reiterates that no one is above the law and will not be permitted to disregard state regulations,” the statement reads in part.
