Lagos fair links 500 trained fashion workers with 100+businesses

2026 Fashion Career Fair in Lagos

More than 500 trained fashion workers are expected to connect with over 100 fashion businesses at the 2026 Fashion Career Fair in Lagos, as employers seek workers with skills needed across the fashion value chain.

The event, organised by Obsidian Advisory Africa, will hold on October 22 and 23, 2026, with the organisers positioning the fair around recruitment, skills gaps and the connection between trained workers and businesses.

Founder and CEO of Obsidian Advisory Africa, Damilola Ademilokun, said the recruitment programme was intended to address the gap between skills training and actual employment.

“We’re not just creating a space for talent and employers to meet. We’re building the infrastructure that gets people hired. The SRP allows us to prepare talent for roles businesses actually need and bring employers into the Fair with a clearer view of the talent available to them.” The 500 talents were trained through Obsidian’s Sprint Recruitment Program (SRP), which was designed to prepare participants for roles that are currently required across the fashion industry.

The talents will be pre-matched with participating businesses based on their skills and the roles available, creating an organised recruitment process for employers seeking workers. The programme is expected to move beyond general networking by connecting trained talents with businesses according to specific workforce requirements.

The event will begin with a virtual Talent Summit, where participants from across Nigeria will discuss careers, skills development and employment opportunities in the fashion industry. The second day will feature the Fashion Employer Town Hall and the physical Fashion Career Fair in Lagos.

The Employer Town Hall will bring fashion businesses and other industry stakeholders together to discuss workforce requirements, skills gaps and recruitment challenges before the career fair begins. The career fair will subsequently provide an opportunity for businesses to interview and engage prospective workers, with on-the-spot hiring and networking expected to form part of the activities.

Obsidian Advisory Africa is a workforce development firm that works on programmes linking talents with employment and business opportunities. The firm said it has worked with organisations including the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund (LSETF), Jobberman, Mastercard Foundation, GIZ and Ethnocentrique on workforce and employment programmes. The 2026 edition will be the fifth edition of the Fashion Career Fair.
