Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has announced a public holiday on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, to mark this year’s Isese Day celebration.
This day will be a work-free period for all public servants across the state.
The announcement was made via a circular issued by the Head of Service, Bode Agoro, under Ref. No: CIR/HOS/124/Vol.1/66.

The circular highlighted the governor’s support for traditional institutions and the promotion of Yoruba cultural heritage.
According to the circular, public offices, including courts, will remain closed on Tuesday, with normal operations resuming on Wednesday, August 21, at 8:00 a.m.
The circular also instructed all accounting officers to disseminate the information widely.
Isese Day celebrates the Yoruba religion, which encompasses the traditional spiritual practices of the Yoruba people from Southwestern Nigeria, including Lagos, Ogun, Osun, Ondo, Ekiti, Kwara, and parts of Kogi state, as well as neighboring regions in Benin and Togo.
