The Lagos State Government has arrested 50 miscreants who took up residence on the Abule Ado Pedestrian Bridge.

The Lagos State Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab disclosed this in an X post on Thursday.

Wahab said the enforcement exercise followed intelligence from a circulating video.

A video shared by the commissioner shows tens of individuals either sleeping in makeshift beds, resting inside tents or sitting on the bridge.

Wahab noted that the exercise was necessary to restore safety, prevent criminal activities and ensure that pedestrian infrastructure meant for public use is not converted into makeshift shelters or illegal settlements.

Wahab said, “Earlier today, following intelligence from a circulating video, our enforcement team carried out a clearance operation on and beneath the Abule Ado Pedestrian Bridge.

“During the operation, over 50 miscreants who had taken up residence on the pedestrian bridge were arrested. The exercise was necessary to restore safety, prevent criminal activities and ensure that pedestrian infrastructure meant for public use is not converted into makeshift shelters or illegal settlements.

“We will continue to secure pedestrian bridges and other public infrastructure across the State to guarantee safety for residents and commuters.”
