The Oluwo of Iwoland, Oba Abdulrasheed Adewale Akanbi, has expressed optimism about the potential of Olubadan-designate, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, to make significant impacts on the traditional institutions of Ibadan.
In a congratulatory message by the monarch, yesterday, he described Ladoja as a “phenomenal personality,” whose experience and agility would contribute to a remarkable chapter in Ibadan’s history.
Oba Akanbi highlighted his maternal ties to Ibadan, noting that his mother was a princess from the city, which further emphasises the longstanding relationship between Iwo and Ibadan.

He expressed hope that Ladoja’s ascension to the Olubadan title would strengthen the existing cooperation between the two historic cities, saying, “I urge the eminent sons and daughters of Ibadan to rally around Oba Ladoja and support him in elevating the affairs of Ibadan to new heights.
“I congratulate the good people of Ibadan, especially Olubadan-designate, Oba Rashidi Ladoja. His experience as a former Governor of Oyo State would set him apart. He will be the first former governor to become Olubadan and I have great confidence in his ability to make a monumental difference,” Oluwo said.
Oba Akanbi also reflected on the historical bond between Iwo and Ibadan, stating, “The understanding between our two regions is ageless. This history is why many Iwoland warriors were welcomed in Ibadan. We remain inseparable.”
Oluwo, however, commended the Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, for his support of the traditional institution and reiterated his call for the people of Ibadan to support their new Olubadan as he embarks on the significant role.
