Two political groups in Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State have called on the former Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, Bashir Bolarinwa, to contest the 2027 governorship election. The Ekiti Progressive Forum (EPF) and the BOB Progressive Movement made the appeal in separate statements, describing Bolarinwa as a leader with the capacity to drive development across the state.
In a statement by its Chairman, Samson Ajayi, alongside representatives from all wards in the local government, the BOB Progressive Movement said Bolarinwa had earned public trust through consistency and truthfulness.
The group noted that leadership requires sincerity and integrity, adding that their support for the former House of Representatives member was voluntary and drawn from individuals across diverse professional backgrounds ,who believe in his sense of purpose.
“As the moment draws nearer for Kwarans to decide their next direction, we respectfully call on this respected social figure, one who has served with distinction at both executive and national legislative levels to step forward and offer himself for the responsibility of governing Kwara State,” the statement read.
Signatories to the statement include Faseyi Debo, Yemi Afolayan, Mr. Lare Raji, Williams Jimoh Afolayan, Pastor Clement Ajewole, Aiyeloja Luke, Segun Daramola, Amidu Kareem and Seyi Anifaoloja, among others.

Similarly, the Ekiti Progressive Forum based its endorsement on Bolarinwa’s track record, leadership capacity and contributions to governance and party development within and beyond the state.
The EPF statement by the Coordinator, Hakeem Abdullahi and other members, including Mrs. Toyin Jimoh, Haruna Abdulkareem, Abiodun Aina, Ajewole Ramat, Akindele Aina and Afolayan Matthew, described the former APC chairman as a capable and credible leader.
“Bolarinwa’s political experience from the grassroots to the national level, coupled with his record of performance, makes him stand out,” the forum stated.
The group added that his intellectual depth and strong academic credentials position him to address modern governance challenges with clarity and inclusiveness, while his capacity for reconciliation and stakeholder engagement is vital at a time the state needs unity-driven leadership.
According to the forum, Bolarinwa possesses the vision, experience and political maturity required to lead Kwara State to greater heights.
