A former member of the House of Representatives for Dutsinma/Kurfi Federal Constituency in Katsina State, Danlami Mohammed Kurfi, has called on the people of the state to support Governor Dikko Umar Radda’s re-election bid, arguing that continuity is essential to sustaining the gains already recorded by the administration.
In a statement endorsing a second term for Radda, Kurfi maintained that meaningful development requires consistency in leadership and policies rather than frequent political disruptions.
According to him, societies make progress through innovation, long-term planning and the ability to build on existing foundations, stressing that Katsina stands to benefit more by allowing the ongoing reforms and development programmes to mature.
“Bringing a new leaf for the sake of a new leaf is not invention; it is interruption,” he stated, arguing that the state’s focus should be on consolidating achievements already being recorded under the current administration.
The former lawmaker pointed to what he described as tangible accomplishments across key sectors, including agriculture, education, healthcare, security, infrastructure and public finance management.
He said Radda’s administration had transformed agriculture through large-scale interventions, including the procurement and subsidised distribution of 40,000 metric tonnes of fertiliser across 2024 and 2025, alongside the provision of 400 tractors, 4,000 solar-powered water pumps, mechanisation centres in all 34 local government areas and the drilling of more than 3,000 tube wells to support dry-season farming.
He noted that the initiatives had laid the foundation for all-year-round agricultural production and increased opportunities for farmers across the state.
In the education sector, he highlighted the recruitment of 7,326 teachers through a merit-based process and the ongoing investments in school infrastructure.
He also cited the World Bank-supported Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) programme and the allocation of billions of naira in School Improvement Grants as evidence of the administration’s commitment to improving educational outcomes.
He further commended the government’s healthcare reforms, noting the significant expansion of enrolment in the state’s health insurance scheme and the ongoing efforts to upgrade the primary healthcare facilities across Katsina.
According to him, investments in healthcare infrastructure, including plans for a modern Advanced Imaging and Cancer Centre, demonstrate a commitment to expanding access to quality medical services for residents.
On security, he praised the establishment of the Katsina Community Watch Corps and other grassroots initiatives aimed at strengthening local security architecture, while creating opportunities for youth engagement through skills acquisition and education.
He also cited improvements in fiscal management, pointing to a substantial reduction in domestic debt and significant growth in internally generated revenue. According to him, the administration’s adoption of digital reforms and stronger financial controls has enhanced the government’s efficiency and revenue generation.
He argued that these achievements had been complemented by the investments in road infrastructure and rural connectivity, which he said were helping to link the farming communities to markets and stimulate economic activities across the state.
He maintained that the development trajectory currently being pursued by the Radda administration should be allowed to continue without interruption, adding that lasting transformation requires patience and policy consistency.
“The discovery that Katsina needs now is not another person, but to see what happens when a working formula is allowed to mature,” he stated.
He, therefore, urged residents and political stakeholders to support Governor Radda’s re-election bid, expressing confidence that a second term would provide him with the opportunity to consolidate the ongoing reforms and deliver even greater benefits to the people of Katsina State.
He emphasised that continuity in leadership remains critical to achieving the long-term vision of sustainable development, economic growth and improved living standards for citizens across the state.
