Kumuyi credits Ogun State with shaping his life, ministry

The General Overseer of the Deeper Life Bible Church, Pastor William F. Kumuyi, has credited Ogun State with playing a significant role in shaping his life, education and Christian ministry.

Kumuyi spoke during the ongoing Global Crusade with Kumuyi (GCK), themed “Total Transformation through Christ,” at Anglican Grammar School, Ota, Ogun State. The crusade is scheduled to end today, Sunday, August 30, 2026.

The cleric recalled that his spiritual journey began in Ogun State, where he said he was converted to Christianity, received his education, learnt English and acquired the foundation that prepared him for his future ministry.

According to him, “many years ago, in this same Ogun State,” he was born again and began his journey of faith. “I was educated in Ogun State. All the English I know, I was taught in Ogun State. I was sent to university by Ogun State. Every good thing I had through Christ, I got in Ogun State,” he said.

Kumuyi said his experiences in the state laid the foundation for the missionary journey that eventually took him across the world to preach the gospel. “And since that time, the Lord has been with me. All the salvation I have is from Ogun State, and from here the Lord has sent me to go tell the rest of the world,” he said.

He, however, used the occasion to call on people to embrace genuine repentance, warning that entertainment, worldly pleasures and material possessions could not bring about true transformation.

Kumuyi said while the world often discourages repentance and encourages people to continue in sinful lifestyles, genuine transformation through Christ requires a conscious decision to turn away from sin.

He urged Christians to cultivate a close relationship with God, citing Abraham as an example of someone who became “a friend of God.”

The cleric also condemned adultery and other forms of sexual immorality, stressing that neither social status nor wealth exempted anyone from God’s standards.

He said the GCK crusade was aimed at leading people away from sin and ignorance and helping them develop a genuine relationship with God.
