The management of the Kebbi State University of Science and Technology, Aliero (KSUSTA), has commended the state Governor, Dr Nasir Idris, for increasing their monthly allocations from N5 million to N15 million.
The Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the university, Mallam Mustapha Mansur Ango, stated this in a statement made available to newsmen in Birnin Kebbi on behalf of the institution. He also disclosed that the Governor has approved about N119 million for the long-awaited maiden convocation ceremony.
According to him, “His Excellency, Dr Nasir Idris, is really changing the narratives on the development of Kebbi State University of Science and Technology, Aliero.
“The Kebbi State Governor, His Excellency Dr Nasiru Idris, popularly known as ‘Kauran Gwandu’, who was inaugurated as the 9th Executive Governor of Kebbi State on 29 May 2023, clearly stated in his inaugural speech the readiness of his administration to improve the standard and quality of education and other key developmental projects in the state.

“He assured that his government will give education the needed attention, considering its importance to human resource development for state and nation-building. The Governor’s first move was to give the university a befitting foundation with the appointment of the 4th University Governing Council with Dr Haliru Bala Jikan Daudu as its Chairman, and prominent academicians and elder statesmen as members of the council.

“In consideration of the organisational policy review, the Governor also approved and signed the amendment of the University Law.
“The Kebbi State Governor, a seasoned administrator and educationist, knowing that a university cannot operate without adequate funding, immediately increased the university’s monthly allocation from the erstwhile N5 million to N15,000,000 monthly.
“The Governor, known to always be a man of his word, further approved the personnel cost of the College of Health Sciences to the tune of N10,000,000 per month. In a similar development, he added the sum of N1,500,000 to security services per month as a step to enhance the general security of the university.”
Ango said: “Kebbi State University of Science and Technology, Aliero, as one of the tertiary institutions in the state with a mandate to offer degree programmes and issue relevant certificates to its graduands, [has been granted substantial support]. The Governor has also made a concerted effort in approving N119,000,000 for the long-awaited maiden convocation ceremony.
“The Governor, in further fulfilment of his promises and zeal to provide welfare to the entire workforce, has also approved the payment of N21,979,495.71 as Consequential Salary Adjustment, an increase to the salary of the university staff. In the same vein, he approved the payment of N17,694,834.70 as an annual increment for four years.”
He added that the Governing Council, Senate, management, staff and students of the university heartily appreciate the Governor’s gesture and pray for his successful tenure.
