House of Representatives member for Yagba East, West and Mopamuro federal constituency in Kogi State, Elder Leke Abejide, has risen in defence of his Reps colleague, James Faleke against the unhealthy politics in Yagba constituency.

While reacting to political comments made by some people regarding the politics of his constituency ahead of the 2027 election, he urged supporters across the state to leave him alone

In a statement in Abuja, Abejide personally signed, he warned that he wouldn’t allow himself to be distracted from governance and how to better the lives of his constituents.

Abejide, the Chairman, House Committee on Customs, also expressed confidence that Faleke did not send those people he described as political jobbers on such an errand.

He made a strong call to those behind the unhealthy politics to focus on governance and development rather than engaging in divisive or premature political activities.

The Reps member further urged his supporters and constituents to leave Faleke out of such narratives, harping on his commitment to constructive leadership and dismissing any claims that might lead to unnecessary distractions.

Abejide’s assertion that Faleke likely did not endorse or direct the alleged political remarks highlighted his respect for his colleague and underscored the need for integrity in political discourse.

He assured that he is focused on delivering on his legislative duties, particularly as Committee Chairman and executing the budget for his second term, which aligned with his goal to prioritize the welfare of the people in Yagba Federal Constituency.

He said: “Please and please leave Hon Abiodun Faleke out of this unhealthy politics some people started in 2024 December for an election that is still 2027 in Yagba Federal Constituency.

“I am very sure and confident Hon Faleke did not send them to utter all those words credited to him that he sent them a message to deliver to Yagba.

“They are only using his name to curry favour for themselves, so please forget about all the noise and let us concentrate on how the lives of our people will be better not the politics of destruction some people started so early in 2024.

“As for me, I am only ready to face governance to alleviate the suffering of our people. My first budget for my second term has not even been executed and some people who have nothing to do except being a political jobber will drag me into politics and distract me never!” Abejide noted in the statement.
