The African Democratic Congress (ADC), Kogi State chapter, on Tuesday announced the immediate suspension of all previously scheduled ward, Local Government Area, and state congresses of the party.

In a press statement signed by the state party chairman, Mr Kingsley Temitope Ogga, and made available to newsmen in Lokoja, it said the decision was taken in strict compliance with the directive of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

It will be recalled that INEC recently de-recognised the current National Working Committee of the party under the leadership of David Mark, based on a Court of Appeal ruling, and has formally communicated its position, directing all concerned parties to maintain the status quo ante bellum.

Consequently, INEC has resolved that it will not recognise any faction of the party or monitor any congresses until the issue is resolved.

The statement therefore said:

” as a law-abiding political party, the ADC Kogi State Chapter, under the leadership of Hon. Kingsley Temitope Ogga, fully aligns with the INEC directive. We reaffirm our unwavering respect for INEC as the constitutonally mandated regulatory authority for political parties and our firm commitment to due process and institutional order.

“Accordingly, all members and stakeholders of the party are hereby enjoined to remain calm, maintain unity, and exercise the highest level of discipline during this period.

“The party strongly advises against any form of activity that may contravene the directive of INEC or disrupt the peace and order within the party.

” The ADC Kogi State Chapter remains committed to democractic principles, internal cohesion, and responsible political conduct. Further updates will be communicated in line with the guidance from the appropriate authority ” the statement added.
