Germany’s newly appointed head coach, Jürgen Klopp, has warned that he will not hesitate to resign if persistent media attention begins to intrude on his family’s privacy.
The former Liverpool manager made the declaration during his first official press conference since taking charge of the German national team, stressing that while he is fully committed to the role, protecting his family will always take precedence over his coaching career.
Klopp, who signed a four-year contract after succeeding Julian Nagelsmann, said the media must respect clear boundaries, warning that any invasion of his family’s private life could force him to walk away from the job.
“If you behave badly and don’t leave my family in peace then I’ll be gone, I’ll just turn away,” Klopp said, according to BBC Sport.
“I love this job but I am always ready to call it quits if need be.”
The 59-year-old returns to frontline coaching for the first time since leaving Liverpool in 2024, ending a highly successful nine-year spell at Anfield after admitting he had “run out of energy.”
Klopp described his appointment as Germany manager as the ultimate achievement of his coaching career, insisting that leading his country represents the highest honour in football management.
“Jürgen Klopp is not going to have any ‘career’ after the national team,” he said.
“This is the pinnacle, the absolute high point of my football career as a coach. I will give everything I have got.”

His first assignment will come on September 24 when Germany face the Netherlands in a UEFA Nations League fixture, marking the beginning of a new era under one of football’s most accomplished managers.
