- ACSCN members resist KCOBA gaining access to office

The King’s College, Lagos, crisis took another dimension when armed policemen stormed the school and forcefully broke the two gates and also arrested one young boy for videoing their action.
One young boy who was videoing the action of the policemen was arrested while the union members refused to vacate the main entrance.
The union members however succeeded in stopping the Executives of King’s College Old Boys Association (KCOBA) from gaining access to their Secretariat and address a schedule press conference.
Earlier in the morning, the ACSCN members succeeded in chasing out armed policemen who attempted to take the gate of the college.
The Lagos State Commissioner for Police, Tijani Fatai, led the operation to dislodge the protesting ACSCN members and also the forceful reopening of the gates.
The Chairman, ACSCN Lagos State, Comrade Olusola Omidiji and Treasurer of the King’s College Parent Teacher Association (PTA), Engineer Emmanuel Abiya, decried the excessive use of force by the policemen to attempt to dislodge the protesters.
Abiya told our Correspondent that to gain access into the college, the police hired a generating set to cut the padlock gates.
He described the presence of the armed policemen as a war situation and that they applied force on ACSCN members who resisted them.
In an attempt to arrest an old woman, Omidiji said she was dragged and pushed to the ground and the action generated a heated exchange between the policemen and other workers.
“It was as if a war was going on at King’s College today. The commissioner of police led a large armed policemen in an attempt to reopen the locked gates.
“Our members resist every attempt to get them to move away from the gate. The presence of the commissioner of police was to enable KCOBA executives to gain access to their Secretariat and his mission failed as our members stood their ground, ” he stated.
ACSCN members nationwide on Monday stalled the resumption of academic activities for 2026/2026 session in the 120 Federal Government Colleges in protest against the concession of King’s College Lagos to KCOBA.
