KingMakers, in partnership with Reach Consulting, have hosted the third edition of Game Changers Fest at the Carven Gaming Arena in Lagos.

University students move “From Player to Creator” with hands-on mobile game development at the Carven Gaming Arena.

This edition’s theme was Mobile Games: From Player to Creator, and it gave young Nigerians hands-on training in mobile game development and the chance to turn their ideas into working prototypes.

Over 50 students took part, each carefully selected for their skills in e-gaming. The participants, aged 18 to 22, came from universities across Nigeria, including the University of Lagos, the University of Ilorin and Lagos State University.

In line with the theme, this edition focused on helping skilled gamers go from playing mobile games to building them.

The day opened with a mobile game development training session led by industry professionals, covering the fundamentals of designing and building games. Participants were then grouped into teams of six. Each team worked together to build its own mobile game prototype, putting the day’s lessons into practice through creativity, collaboration and problem-solving.

Each team presented its prototype to a panel of judges, who selected the three best. The winning teams received cash prizes of N1,000,000 for first place, N550,000 for second and N350,000 for third, a total of N1.9 million.

Speaking at the event, Gossy Ukanwoke, Managing Director of KingMakers, said: “Millions of young Nigerians play mobile games every day, and the students here today are among the best at it. Our theme, From Player to Creator, is about showing them they can build those games too.

In just one day, we watched them go from learning the basics to presenting working prototypes. That is what happens when talent meets opportunity.” He added: “Building in teams taught participants something just as valuable as the technical skills: how to collaborate, share ideas and deliver under pressure. These are the skills the future of work demands, and we are proud to help develop them here in Lagos.”

Solomon Nnanna, CEO of Reach Consulting, said: “The energy at the Carven Gaming Arena was remarkable. Seeing students take a mobile game from concept to prototype shows that Nigeria’s next generation of game creators is already here.

Partnering with KingMakers on this third edition lets us give them real, practical exposure to the gaming industry.” Game Changers Fest launched in 2026 as part of KingMakers’ broader commitment to youth development and digital inclusion.

It aims to close the gap between talent and access by introducing young people to opportunities in technology, gaming and digital entrepreneurship.
