Popular Nigerian content creator and filmmaker, Folagade Banks, has continued the promotion of his forthcoming movie, A Mama Deola Wedding Story, after meeting with music legend, King Sunny Ade.
Banks shared a picture of himself with the veteran musician on his Instagram handle on Sunday, describing the encounter as a major endorsement for the film.
He wrote, “When you have got the imperial legend KING SUNNY ADE stamping your movie!! A MAMA DEOLA WEDDING STORY is a Movement!!”
The meeting comes as Banks intensifies publicity for the movie ahead of its premiere on September 3, 2026, on Kava TV. The film will mark the streaming platform’s first original movie.
A Mama Deola Wedding Story is the first instalment of a planned movie franchise centred on Banks’ popular Mama Deola character, which helped establish him as one of Nigeria’s prominent social media content creators.
The movie features a star-studded cast including Omowunmi Dada, Rotimi Salami, Shaffy Bello, Bukky Wright, Erica Nlewedim, Toyin Adegbola, Akin Lewis, Idowu Phillips, popularly known as Iya Rainbow, and several others.
Veteran actor and filmmaker, Femi Adebayo, is the director of the project, while Banks serves as producer and executive producer.
The production has also attracted attention for its large-scale wedding sequence, which Banks said involved more than 600 cast members and took about 20 hours to film.
The filmmaker described the scene as the biggest wedding sequence he had seen in a movie, adding to the anticipation surrounding the project.
Banks has previously described the movie as a major milestone in his career, particularly as he moves from short comedy skits to feature filmmaking.
The movie is expected to combine comedy, family drama and Nigerian cultural elements while expanding the story of the Mama Deola character to a feature-length production.
With the September 3 premiere date drawing closer, Banks has stepped up the promotional campaign, including cast reveals, behind-the-scenes content and other publicity activities designed to build anticipation for the film.
The King Sunny Ade meeting adds another high-profile moment to the campaign as Banks seeks to position A Mama Deola Wedding Story as more than a movie, but as a major entertainment project.
