Parents under the aegis of the National Parents Teachers’ Association of Nigeria (NAPTAN) has called on the Minister of Education, Dr Tunji Alausa, to organise a dialogue with stakeholders in the education sector to address the challenges confronting the sector.
National President of NAPTAN, Alhaji Haruna Danjuma, who made the call in a statement yesterday stressed the need for the Minister to ensure necessary reforms that would guarantee the safety of students in schools.
Danjuma, who condemned the recent kidnap of some students in Kebbi and Niger states, said the parents can proffer solutions to the challenges confronting the education sector.

He said the Minister should convey a meeting that would involve representatives of the parents, security agencies, heads of educational institutions and other relevant bodies.
He stressed the need for collaborative efforts to bring an end to insecurity in the schools and ensure the safety of all children.
Danjuma called on the Federal Government to engage relevant people in the fight against insurgency, saying that the government needs to bring people together to achieve success in its fight against insurgency.
The NAPTAN boss, who encouraged the Federal Government to take the security of their children seriously as they are the leaders of the future, said closure of schools was not the solution to insecurity in the schools.
