Keeping Kanu in Sokoto prison risky – Lawyer

Nnamdi Kanu

From Uchenna Inya, Abakaliki

A Lawyer in Ebonyi State and  researcher on  International laws of war, Chief Emmanuel Nwibo has argued that making the whole world to know that the convicted leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi kanu is at the Sokoto prisons was a security and tragic  flaw.

Nwobo said Kanu like General Uba who was murdered by suspected terrorists, was a value target for the bandits internationally

He further argued that exporting a high profile prisoner like kanu to a far away terrorist infested North was  a miscalculation and an error taking too far that may bring a far ending and avoidable consequences.

He opined that his right to nearness to his lawyers and justice is not only being violated but exposed to ultimate danger which he likened to the case of Kashimawo Abiola in the 90s.

Nwobo maintained that If up to three hundred students can be abducted in nearby Niger state with no rescue in sight,  how much more a prisoner who was accused of inciting hatred and attacks on the fulanis ( the armed herdsmen and bandits).

“I am tired of how we run Nigeria. It was as the same as announcing that a General who escaped after an ambush have made his way out and on  his way back to base …without waiting or the natural conclusion of events …

“One of the qualities of good leadership  in  time like this as we are currently experiencing in Nigeria is coordinated  strategic planning and information management ..
It is not a time for any sort of delusionary propaganda ..

“Nnamdi kanu like General Uba is a high value target internationally for the bandits ,, and jihadist meaning that they can do anything to get rid of him even with international assistance ….to score a very painful goal and trigger confusion .

“When the General Uba who was ambushed with his troop came under a cross fire he  escaped into the Sambisa …
it was alleged that he even made a Watsap video call and sent his location via Watsap chats asking to be rescued or extracted..

“It took the army forever until it became an ugly story. I don’t want to say that , it was impossible for him to be extracted from the enemies camp ..
it may have been made very difficult by information lapses …et cetra ..

“Exporting a high profile prisoner like Nnamdi kanu to a far away terrorist infested North is a miscalculation and an error taking too far that may bring a far ending and avoidable consequences …

“His right to nearness to his lawyers and justice if not only being violated but exposed to ultimate danger ….
A resemblance of the case of kashimawo Abiola in the 90s

” If up to three hundred students can be abducted in nearby Niger state with no rescue in sight …then how much more a prisoner who was accused of inciting hatred and attacks on the fulanis ( the armed herdsmen and bandits). Sokoto is the capital of the fulanis with high jihadist inclinations and so much hatred  already on the air …

“Nnamdi is not just a National  and international prisoner , he is also an agitator , a prisoner of conscience , a freedom fighter and a separatist leader with massive and regional fellowships that can also get deadly ..

“Taking him to sokoto Prisons is a miscalculation, and a time bomb on  our National cohesion..We are sitting on the brink of a National disaster and creating an opportunity which the enemies of Nigeria can harvest easily and at all cost ….

“Striking the facility where Nnamdi is being kept and a mere rumour  of that can trigger a National abnormality and we can’t wait …

“On the other hand concealing his location and making it known only to his family would have been a better option
We can not afford to make Nnamdi kanu a soft target ..or one of the collateral damages arising from the war against banditry and jihadism…

“Note Nnamdi kanu is not a terrorist but a separatist leader that was tried on a non existing terror law  A  stitch in time saves nine”, Nwobo, a former Leader of Ebonyi State House of Assembly said.
