The National Parent Teacher Association of Nigeria (NAPTAN) has called on the Federal Government to ensure the safe return of all the kidnapped students of Government Girls Comprehensive High School, Maga, Kebbi State, who were abducted recently by unknown gunmen.

Rising from the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the association, the parents stressed the need for the government to protect their children placed under the care of the government while in their various schools.

The parents’ body condemned the attack on the innocent students and urged the security agencies in the country to expedite action in finding the students.

In a communiqué issued at the end of the meeting, which was signed by the National President and National Publicity Secretary of the association, the parents called for adequate security for all their children while in school.

Also, the association warned the terrorists behind the attack to desist from such dastardly acts, even as it called on the management of all public and private schools in the country to beef up their security in the interest of the children in their custody.

On the proposed Computer-Based Test (CBT) which the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) plans to introduce, the parents’ body advised that the students’ convenience should be considered in order for them not to suffer.

The association advised WAEC to run both written and CBT exams together until facilities for the exam are available in all the centres across the country, saying this will assist the students whose schools do not have provision for CBT exams.
