Kebbi releases N60m for accreditation of health college courses

The Kebbi State governor, Dr. Nasir Idris, has released the sum of N60 million for the accreditation of courses at the College of Health Sciences and Technology, Jega. The Provost of the College, Mr Hussaini Aliyu, confirmed this during a press conference held in Birnin Kebbi.

According to him, “in fulfilment of his commitment to revitalising tertiary education, His Excellency has approved the sum of N60 million for the accreditation of eight academic programmes of the College by The National Board for Technical Education (NBTE).

“The process is on-going and nearing completion. Consequently, students affected by the October 17th, 2024 suspension will soon be recalled once the accreditation exercise is concluded, enabling them to continue their studies and graduate with National Diploma (ND) qualifications.

“Additionally, the education-friendly governor has approved the renovation of the students’ hostels as part of the accreditation process, aimed at enhancing learning and research.” Aliyu commended the governor’s for his continued support and commitment to repositioning the College as a centre of excellence in health education and technology.

In his remark, the Commissioner for Higher Education, Alhaji  Isah Abubakar Tunga, explained that the college was on crisis because of non- accreditation of courses, stressed that the state government had taken a bold step to invite NBTC for the full accreditation of the students programmes to enable them graduated with National Diploma. He added that the government had renovated the students’ hotels to enable them settle down in an environments that is conducive for learning.
